Popsicle stick hiatus

Here is a random pic of Tweety I drew for my wonderful boss (she truly is a wonderful person). "FMS" stands for Fleming Middle School, which is my place of employment.

SS Viking

Okay...so here is my little viking ship. It's not exactly how I pictured it in my head but I guess it will have to do for now. If I could just figure out how to construct and hoist a good and sturdy sail...

Is it done yet?

Here is a little house I constructed this afternoon. Quite frankly, I am not exactly sure of the look I was going for. As a matter of fact, I am not even sure if it's finished! What do you think?

Getting smaller...

Here is a smaller loft I've recently constructed. Unlike the other structures you've seen, I actually purchased 1:48 scale furniture online for this project. On the bottom floor is the bathroom, kitchen, and den areas. The second floor includes a large bedroom. As you can see, the staircase and space between each stair is not exactly proportionate to the rest of the house, so I may add more steps.

All aboard! Well...maybe not.

Here is the "Train Station." For some reason, this one doesn't do much for me, which would probably explain why I have it hidden in one of my closets now! Perhaps I should do more to it?

Rescue me!

Ahhh, and here is my baby! I call this structure "The Lifeguard." On average, most of the structures take about 2-2 1/2 hours to construct but, surprisingly, this one only took about an hour. The idea for building the lifeguard post swam in my head (all puns intended) for several days, so I guess I really unleashed once I got the glue gun in hand.

Our Town

Here is a pic of Mason's little town which consists of the carport/loft (far upper left corner), the jailhouse, and McBride's Burgers. (As you can see, I've made a slight change to the burger stand. The sign reads "building the best burgers since 1980!") Of course, the structure directly across from the carport is Tatianna's three-story loft, so I doubt if she would appreciate me applying ownership of the structure to her baby brother.

The Million Dollar Loft

Here is the three-story loft I created for my 10-year-old niece, Tatianna. This particular structure is still a work in progress. Though I have completed the base and frame, I still need to apply a little paint here and there, install flooring, a wall or two, as well as a pool and railings for the top floor. I will be sure to post a picture once all work is complete...

Here is one of my personal favorites. I call this one "The Loft." Actually, it is not so much a loft anymore as it is a carport. My 5-year-old nephew, Mason, fell in love with it the moment he laid his seal-like eyes upon it and decided to convert it into a carport. To make the structure a bit more automotive friendly, I constructed a ramp for the little guy to wheel his cars over. All-in-all, I think Mason is more than satisfied with his new piece of real estate.

No bail, no release!

Here is my interpretation of what an old-fashioned jail from the late 1800s might have looked like. I must say that this particular structure is not one of my favorites, but it still holds a special place deep (and I really mean deep) in my heart.

Anyone up for a burger...or two?

I call this one "McBride's Burgers." This particular structure was inspired by one of the most well-known burger joints in my hometown, Houston, TX. I can never remember the name of the little shack, but I definitely know its whereabouts as well as the effect its food has on the human body. Can you say "Weight Watchers?" After eating there, you will probably have to commit those words to memory!

Little Bungalow of Love

Here is the PopCreation that started it all! Of course, like all things, there is a story behind it. One day while visiting an area dollar store I saw a bunch of bags of popsicle sticks sitting in a corner. Being the goofball that I am, I bought them for no reason other than to squander money and took them home. Once home, I got curious, grabbed my hot glue gun, and started building whatever came to mind. The first thing I built this little multi-colored house (which I decided to give to my mother). After completing the little bungalow, I was addicted! Since that day, I've built
several other structures and have ideas for building many more!
